October DC Report

Hi everyone, I hope you are becoming familiar with our fantastic new website. The site looks amazing and snapshots of riders across the homepage capture our club’s spirit perfectly!

The new website will make the posting of pictures much easier, so we look forward to sharing lots of great shots of our riders – both out and about competing and simply having fun at rallies. A very big thank you to the Grant family, in particular Cathy, who has invested a large amount of her time into developing and implementing our new website. This huge effort is clearly reflected in the results!

Upcoming Horse Trials

With our horse trials coming up in November, once again, we will focus on getting as many riders as possible out on our x country course. All groups (excluding Silver) have a x country session at this rally, so please use this time wisely and if you have any questions, ask your instructor. They all have valuable eventing experience and knowledge to share. It was great to see our younger riders enjoying their x country sessions at our September rally and for those of you who haven’t competed in a horse trials event before and are still unsure about when to start competing, please discuss this with your instructor or come and chat to myself or Bec before the rally commences.

The “Horse Trials Training Day” we are conducting over the holidays is another excellent resource being offered to our members preparing for horse trials.  Sally Gill has put together a fantastic program with instruction available for all levels of riders from Grade 1 to Grade 5. At the time of writing, there were still a couple of spots left, so if you’re interested, please email Sally or text her (on 0408 331 077) before this Friday 27th September.

One of our senior riders, Sophie Chilcott has very kindly offered to host a dressage pencilling session for parents at our October rally. For those that haven’t pencilled before, this is a great opportunity to both gain some understanding of how dressage scoring works and to learn how to pencil for a dressage judge at a competition. On the eve of our horse trials event, this is a perfect time to learn a new skill or brush up on an old one. This session will be held after lunch in the clubrooms and we ask that those interested let us know at the start of the rally.

In accordance with PCAV Horse Trials rules, the x country course will be closed to all competitors for four weeks, effective Saturday 19th October. Any competitor found on the course after Friday 18th  October, will not be eligible to compete in this event.

November Rally Information

Instead of our regular November rally, this year we will be accommodating our members at The Whittlesea Show. There is something for everyone at this show from novelties to pony club rings to showjumping, so please take a look at the program, as we will be seeking confirmation of attendance closer to the event. Members that attend the show mounted or unmounted (in PC uniform) will be granted rally attendance and we will also have instructors in attendance on the day. We hope to see as many members as possible at this event and further details will be issued shortly.

Well Wishes

Best of luck to Jessica Grant who makes the big journey to WA to compete in the National Interschool Championships next week. Jessica qualified at the State Championships here in July to compete in the Secondary Intermediate Novice Dressage section and we look forward to hearing all about it upon her return!

Ring to Ride

Riders in White, Grey and Black must text (0425 759 565) or email your preferences to me by Friday 5pm at the latest. Riders who respond late, will be placed according to group vacancies. Riders who do not respond, need to see me before the rally commences to discuss available rally sessions.

Cheers, Sinéad.
